The layout of these holiday boats is almost infinitely flexible - the plans provided are a guide to the possible arrangement of beds.
When the dinette is being used for large parties, 2 singles may be laid out as two people on the dinette top-to-toe, as shown.
1 DOUBLE, 1 DOUBLE AND 1 SINGLE, 1 DOUBLE AND 2 SINGLES
Please note: Rear easy chairs (chair beds) can be made into single beds. They are only recommended for children and young adults; they are not recommended for large adults.
As with all the Oxfordshire Narrowboats fleet these boats were designed and built by us at Heyford Wharf based on years of boating and boat hiring experience. We were the first company to standardise our fleet with ‘reverse layout’ narrowboats which mean that the living areas (dinette/lounge) are at the rear of the boat allowing a more sociable cruising experience with the steerer and crew not being at opposite ends of the boat! All of our boats feature super-silenced, economical, modern marine diesel engines with plenty of power for river work on the Thames, Kennet, and Avon. They are widely regarded as some of the easiest handling holiday hire narrowboats around. At 47ft long these lovely narrowboats offer easy handling, comfortable cruising for two people, but are also considered to be just the right length for a younger or smaller family to enjoy an economical escape afloat....and don’t forget that Oxfordshire Narrowboats offer the most friendly, comprehensive boat handling training afloat!
Stylish and Spacious for Couples – perfect for Romantic or City Breaks, honeymoons (we have hosted several!), and just as suitable for longer cruising holidays: cosy, comfortable centrally heated boats featuring easy chairs, separate dining table & chairs, a permanent double bed with memory foam mattress, bathroom with bath/shower and a spacious rear cruiser deck for al fresco dining and sociable cruising.
Great Value for Money for a younger family on a budget these cosy, comfortable narrowboats have a spacious rear cruiser deck for all the family as well as a forward cockpit. The two easy chairs double as fold-down single beds by night for the children. A fold-out gateleg dining table seats four with folding chairs: it can eve be moved outdoors for alfresco dining if you prefer...
A level cruiser stern deck (which means that there is lots of space to socialise with family and friends...and the skipper!) makes for easy boarding. Through the handcrafted glazed hardwood rear cabin doors there are three steps down to the cabin which is all on one level and has 6ft 6” headroom at the centre, fully carpeted except in galley and bathroom areas which feature safety non-slip lino.
Stepping inside, the lounge/saloon features two easy chairs which can be used as fold-down single beds if required for smaller/ younger guests. There’s a breakfast bar with shelves and a cupboard under, leading into the compact galley which nonetheless features a standard domestic 4-hob gas cooker and under-counter electric fridge – fully equipped with all kitchenware and crockery, cutlery & glassware for up to 4pp. We also include dishwashing kit and a complementary starter kit of rubbish bags, soaps and toilet rolls. Moving forward, the bathroom (toilet, washbasin, shower and small bath) is to one side of a short corridor before you reach the main bedroom (fixed/ double bed) and then to the front door which opens out into a seated bow cockpit.
Storage consists of a wardrobe (hangers provided) in the main cabin, a low-level hanging/kitchen cupboard under the breakfast bar, and two heated cupboards on the rearmost cabin wall which are ideal for coats, drying items, boots etc.
Central Heating is provided by a diesel heater powering three radiators...and the cabin is also spray-foam insulated throughout.
Hot Water is by simply provided means of the main boat engine running each day – but the diesel heating also can top this up as required.
240V Electricity is powered from an inverter which itself uses battery power: the maximum load is up to 800W so is suitable for appliance charging and lower powered hair straighteners/ dryers etc. The inverter cannot be left on overnight and for this reason we do not recommend reliance on 240V for health-critical medical machines e.g. breathing/ sleep apnia etc etc. Note that the 240V sockets are at the rear of the lounge only.
