Days out with friends and family on Britains canal waterways

  DAY HIRE

Hire a canal boat for a day! You don't have to spend a fortune to enjoy life afloat. We offer day hire for up to 10pp per boat from mid March to the October Half Term. Give it a try with family or friends - a lazy day afloat…

Our easy-to-operate canal dayboats are based at Lower Heyford on the rural Oxford Canal in Oxfordshire along the Cotswold borders, and Bradford on Avon in Wiltshire on the Kennet and Avon (K&A) Canal near Bath. There are full safety features and training provided, and our own special design of day hire narrowboat allows accommodation in all weathers for up to 10 people. Our narrowboats are easy to handle and fully enclosed - so if our changeable British weather should deal a less than perfect day, there is always a place to keep warm and watch the world go by through the large picture windows. Each dayhire boat is centrally heated, has a toilet and has crockery, cutlery, glassware and cookware aboard. (see What's Onboard - below).

Canal day boat hire is from 09.30 to 17.30. Full payment must be made at the time of booking; a £200 refundable cash security deposit is taken on arrival against the boat's safe, clean & timely return, with no outstanding third-party complaints.

PICNICS AFLOAT

Moor up in the countryside and spread a blanket out on the grass to savour a special day out. Celebrate your special occasion with friends and family - the boats are sociable areas with lots of room to chat as you cruise along. An all-weather covered foredeck allows you to still admire the scenery without getting wet. Folding chairs can be moved around - even ashore for al fresco dining!

CHILDREN WELCOME

Let the children take part! They will love to help work the locksor bridges, run along the towpath, or even steer the narrowboat under supervision - this is truly a waterway adventure for all ages. We provide buoyancy aids and full instruction to enjoy your day in safety.

RESPONSIBLE BOATING

May we respectfully remind all day hirers to behave responsibly on our canals, especially in respect of not speeding. This includes adhering to our stated safety guides, avoiding excessive alcohol consumption and keeping children safe and under control. Please note that satellite tracking may be in operation to monitor the boat’s speed and location for safety and security reasons.
