Oxfordshire Narrowboats has a reputation for top quality holiday narrowboats with superb interiors: more space per person with those little extra touches to make your holiday more relaxing and enjoyable. They are individually designed and built by us to be stylish, quiet, comfortable and easy to handle by novices and people of all ages. Unlike most hire boats these days, to ensure you have the most comfortable experience we continue to provide fully carpeted interiors (except galley and bathroom areas which feature non-slip safety floors). New carpets have been fitted to the majority of our holiday hire fleet ready for the 2021 season and all boats now feature a 240V supply up to 1600W/1.6kW so that you can use your own hairdryers.
CLIMATE CONSIDERATION
Whilst diesel narrowboats will be around for years to come until battery/solar/hydrogen power and associated shore-based infrastructure can provide viable proper alternative propulsion systems, we are currently upgrading all of your engines to the latest Euro 6 emissions standards. In all other respects we strive to minimise our carbon footprint - we feature Ecover cleaning products, we have LED lighting and USB ports throughout our fleet, and offer full recycling facilities at our bases.

All of our holiday boats also feature diesel central heating that also provides plenty of hot water, and a large cruiser-style stern, protected by a guardrail, that provides plenty of space for the party whilst cruising, including seats for the steerer and crew. The boats are fully insulated and carpeted with coir doormat thresholds, include plenty of storage space, with fabric upholstery and dining seating at one table for the whole party in the rear dinette cabin (This arrangement is commonly known as ‘reverse layout’).
All our holiday boats have two full bathrooms (except 47ft 2/4 berth). Bed linen is provided, freshly laundered/ folded to comply with Covid best practice guidlines, for your added peace of mind. The galley is fully equipped with glasses, crockery, cutlery, cookware, cafetiere and teapot - but we do ask you to bring your own dishwashing kit, again to minimise Covid transmission risks. A full-sized cooker and under-counter electric fridge with small freezer compartment are on board. Our unique ‘cool stores’ are also available below the waterline under the dinette seats (except 47ft boats) – ideal for storage of drinks and vegetables without the need to overfill the fridge. We have heated airing cupboards conveniently placed at the rear of the boat to dry off wet clothes. Finally, our holiday boats are fitted with Freeview-equipped flat screen TVs with integral CD/DVD/SD/USB ports on board, as well as a USB port in each cabin.
